Project Officer – Disaster Risk Reduction

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Officer to support Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Based in Majuro, the officer will work under the Chief of Mission and the Head of Sub‑Office, coordinating with regional and headquarters units to strengthen emergency response and public safety capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of DRR projects in the Marshall Islands.
• Coordinate activities with the Chief of Mission, Head of Sub‑Office, Regional Thematic Specialist and relevant IOM divisions.
• Support capacity‑building initiatives for the Republic of Marshall Islands’ emergency response and public safety systems.
• Prepare project documentation, progress reports and technical updates for headquarters and regional offices.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among governmental, intergovernmental and non‑governmental partners involved in DRR.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications in disaster risk reduction, humanitarian affairs, public safety or a related field.
• Professional experience in project coordination or implementation of DRR initiatives.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and liaise with a range of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
