Senior Programme Associate – Food Security (National Position)

About the role

The Senior Programme Associate will support the Japan‑funded Food Security and Livelihoods project in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the Head of Sub‑Office in Majuro, the incumbent will work closely with the Public School System and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce to improve food security outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities at community and institutional levels.
• Coordinate and deliver trainings, workshops and outreach events with schools and government partners.
• Support procurement, logistics and distribution of food security and livelihood inputs.
• Maintain effective partnerships with development partners, UN agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Prepare reports and documentation to track progress and ensure compliance with donor requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Agriculture, Political Science, International Relations or related field with at least four years relevant experience, or high school diploma with six years experience.
• Experience supporting school‑ or community‑based development activities, including material coordination.
• Background in food security, nutrition or livelihoods initiatives in the RMI context.
• Experience in training, workshops or community outreach is preferred.
• Prior work in an international organization, embassy or NGO is an advantage.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); working knowledge of Micronesian languages is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Strong partnership‑building skills with government, UN agencies and local stakeholders.
